It’s an overcast somewhat sunless day in Montreal. There appears to be an inertia of consistent airflow being carried up from the river, needless to say it is refreshingly cool for the first week of August. Today I impulsively found myself wondering the halls and the corridors of the Musee Des Beaux-Arts de Montreal,(Montreal Museum of Fine Arts).
I have always found the MBAM it to be a very unpredictable piece of architecture.
The collection offers a wonderful and astonishing juxtaposition of works from the the 13th and 14th century right through to les Automatistes, les Plasticiens and beyond.
I was both electrified and amazed by the venerable antiquity of the early Renaissance paintings. There is a genuine longevity to these works both physically and substantively.
It was inspiring and exhilarating to feel the energy and the spirit of Monet, Molinari, McEwan ,Tousignant, Matisse, and Picasso. A truly wonderful experience. “MERCI MONTREAL”…
